Nicole Kidman Fled Hollywood to Tend to Garden While Carrying 1st Baby at 40 after Painful Pregnancy Journey

During her first marriage, Nicole Kidman failed to conceive biologically, leading her and her husband, Tom Cruise, to adopt. After she married her second husband, Keith Urban, she chose a life outside of Hollywood, and a surprise happened at age 40 while living at his rural farm!

Nicole Kidman wanted to have children as soon as she and Tom Cruise were married. At the time, the actress had just started her career and met Tom at 22 during her audition for the 1990’s “Days of Thunder.”

After falling in love and getting married that same year, by age 23, Nicole was pregnant with her first child. Sadly, she lost the child to an ectopic pregnancy, leading the couple to opt for adoption.

hey initially adopted a baby girl, Isabella, before her brother, Connor, joined the family. Reports revealed that the actress conceived again before suffering a miscarriage. Still, it all coincided with the heartbreaking news that she and Tom were divorcing, with Nicole stating this about her losses:

“There’s an enormous amount of pain and an enormous amount of joy on the other side of it,”

Tom cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for his divorce. He and Nicole never publicly explained what had caused their separation, but rumors said it had something to do with the actor’s role in the Church of Scientology.

The actress never fully joined the church, and because her children with Tom were part of the faith, she allegedly became estranged from them. Connor and Isabella were raised in the religion after living with their father after their parents split.

A year after her divorce, Nicole won an Oscar Award for her role in “The Hours.” Back in her hotel room, the star didn’t feel as fulfilled as she thought she would be but felt utterly alone

The actress questioned what she would do now that she was divorced and envisioned a different path. One where she owned a farm in Oregon and a life as a single mother.

MEETING THE MAN OF HER DREAMS AND BUILDING A FAMILY WITH HIM

During her 2017 appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Nicole confessed that she had a massive crush on Keith Urban when she first met him in 2005 at a Los Angeles event. At the time, she’d thought he wasn’t interested in her.

The “Lion” star revealed that Keith never called her for four months after their initial meeting! During an “Oprah!” interview, Keith later admitted that it was like Nicole was floating when he first saw her.

In 2011, while speaking to her “Just Go With It” co-star, Jennifer Aniston, for Haper’s Bazaar, Nicole recalled praying to God about Keith when she saw him. She negotiated with God that she’d remain “completely devoted for the rest” of her life if she got a man like the singer, adding:

It took the country musician months to find the courage to call Nicole despite their attraction to each other being instant. The actress described being with the singer as like coming home to someone familiar despite never having met him before.

She felt like she and Keith fit together perfectly. After six months of being together, Keith surprised the star on the morning of her 38th birthday by appearing on her New York front patio with Gardenias.

That was when Nicole knew the singer was the man she was supposed to marry! The “Destroyer” actress thought Keith was the love of her life, perhaps because she was a hopeless romantic.

The couple married in June 2005 in a candlelight ceremony at Sydney, Australia’s Cardinal Cerretti Memorial Chapel on St. Patrick’s Estate at Manly. They spent their first night as a married couple in Sydney before flying away for their honeymoon.

MOVING IN WITH KEITH AND HAVING THEIR FIRST CHILD TOGETHER

Speaking to Tatler in 2018, Nicole shared how her life changed after she married Keith. Instead of Oregon, the actress moved to stay with her husband at his Nashville home with the star, thinking how “rural” the area was.

They lived on the farm for the first year of their marriage, and then Nicole found out she was pregnant at age 40 in 2008! The star described it as a “miracle” because she’d given up on having children biologically.

The actress admitted that she was told she wouldn’t have children naturally because of the complications she had had before. That’s when the couple welcomed their first child and daughter, Sunday Rose.

During Nicole’s In the Envelope: The Actor’s Podcast appearance, she shared how content she was to stay home carrying her daughter and working on the vegetable garden on the 35-acre farm. She was fortunate in that Keith was still working full-time.

The actress was happy with relaxing in Nashville and stopped acting. The Franklin, Tennessee farm was on private land covered by woods and pastures, with a typical red-brick main house.

It boasts almost 5,100 square feet with four bedrooms and four full and two half bathrooms. The home was described as “contemporary,” with dark-stained oak hardwoods in the interior.

The estate had a living room flooded with light from oversized windows and skylights. The home also had a dining area and a galley-style kitchen that featured stainless steel.

he couple’s estate had a spacious family room with a high ceiling and custom lighting. A fireplace trimmed with stainless steel featured a television mounted above it, and a “glassed breezeway” linked the main floor’s main bedroom with the public rooms.

The main bedroom had a private sitting room, a balcony, a bathroom with twin vanities, a garden tub, and walk-in closets. The lower exterior has guest bedrooms, a den, an office, and a gym.

Sunday, born on July 7, 2008, at her parents’ Nashville home, got her first name from early 20th-century artist’s muse, Sunday Reed. The little girl’s middle name, Rose, was a nod to Keith’s late grandmother.

WELCOMING THEIR SECOND DAUGHTER

On December 28, 2010, Keith and Nicole welcomed their second daughter, Faith Margaret Kidman Urban, at Nashville’s The Women’s Hospital at Centennial. The little girl was received through a gestational carrier (or surrogate) and was the biological daughter of the famous pair.

In 2016 Nicole confessed to People that she had been “meant to go there” when referring to Nashville. Two years before, on “The Queen Latifah Show,” the actress revealed that she was living a “normal life” on the farm.

The star enjoyed routines with family, like eating breakfast and dinner together. Nicole said she was more of a homebody, and in a 2016 Facebook post, she showed off the Gardenias that she grew on her farm every summer.

The actress believed she was destined to meet her husband, has two children with him, and live a life in Nashville where she walked, shopped, and gardened, unlike other stars. In the summer of 2022, Keith and Nicole celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary.##
