Harry Is ‘Stepping into the Void Left by Diana’ & All He Wants to Do Is Make Her ‘Incredibly Proud’

After Princess Diana died, Prince Harry revealed that he desired to make his mother proud. It appears that the Duke of Sussex is fulfilling that desire as he is gradually stepping into the void Diana left. Continue reading to know more details.

Princess Diana may have had a bad relationship with her children’s father, Prince Charles, but the bitterness in their union did not affect the bond between the mother and her boys.

Until her untimely demise in 1997, the Princess of Wales was a doting mother, and she made sure Harry and William were cared for. Although Diana was always present for her sons, the mom of two was a bit extra with the attention she lavished on Harry.

The reason was that William’s position as the future king gave him a lot of special attention from the public and other Royal Family members, as opposed to Harry. So, to make sure her younger son did not feel left out, Diana struck a balance.

According to Richard Kay, the Princess of Wales’ close friend, Diana would always talk to her social circle about Harry. As time progressed, the Duke Of Sussex’s attention from his mom made him cherish the alone time he spent with Diana. Kay confessed:

“Harry loved it when he was alone with Diana at Kensington Palace. Once, when home ill from boarding school, he gleefully told one of Diana’s friends, ‘I have got Mummy to myself… and I don’t have to share her with William!’”

Sadly, Harry could only experience such love and attention from his mother for a few years, as Diana passed away when he was only 12.

It has been over two decades since the Princess of Wales died, and Harry cannot get over his mother’s love for him. This has garnered the public’s attention, with many sharing their thoughts on the mother and son’s relationship.

In the biography, “The Palace Papers: Inside the House of Windsor — the Truth and the Turmoil,” Author Tina Brown lets the world in on her views about Harry and Diana’s relationship.

According to her, the Duke of Sussex idolized his mother and understood her less. Although many people might find Brown’s opinion debatable, one thing is for sure: Harry loved his mother dearly.

The Duke of Sussex has proven this fact in various interviews and noted that he wants to make Diana proud. In his words:

“All I want to do is make my mother incredibly proud. That’s all I’ve ever wanted to do.”

Harry is not only focused on making his mom proud but also on ensuring his kids experience the kind of love and attention he has. He is a doting father to two children, and since they arrived, the Duke has felt Diana’s presence in almost everything he does. Harry strongly believes that his mother is watching over them.

In March 2020, Harry and Meghan Markle relocated to the United States shortly after stepping down from their duties as senior members of the Royal Family.

Surprisingly, their big move was not different from the plans Diana had. In October 2003, Paul Burrell announced that the Princess of Wales was planning to relocate to California before she died.

According to Burrell, she had picked out Actress Julie Andrews’ old house in Malibu and planned to take Harry and William with her. “A lovely house… saw all the plans for it. It was going to be in Malibu. I saw the plans. We sat on the floor, spread out all the maps and layout of the house,” Burrell explained.

The former Butler also mentioned that Diana wanted a better life for her and her sons and hoped to find comfort and freedom. In his words:

“She said, ‘This is our new life, just won’t it be great, think of the lifestyle the boys — nobody’s judgemental here in America, you don’t have the class system, you don’t have the establishment.’”

Burell further revealed that he believed Diana’s plans were realistic, and no member of the Royal Family would have tried to stop her. Unfortunately, the late Princess could not live to begin that new phase of her life.

Following her divorce from Prince Charles, Diana found love in the arms of an Egyptian native, Dodi Fayed. Sadly, their racial differences made them a steady interest in the media, which contributed to Diana’s death.

Many years after her demise, Harry would open up about the similarities between Diana and Fayed’s relationship and his union with Markle.

The Duke of Sussex noted that his wife had been suicidal, and the media and Royal Family members were not helping matters. He added:

“My mother was chased to her death while she was in a relationship with someone that wasn’t white, and now look what’s happened. You want to talk about history repeating itself. They’re not going to stop until she dies.”

During a 2016 interview with People, Harry confessed that he had a lot of his mother in him and was doing things she would probably do. However, he did those things not because she wanted him to, but because he enjoyed them. In his words:

“I enjoy what I do. But I don’t do things because I feel as though my mother would want me to do them.”

One of the numerous things Harry loves doing is being involved in charitable works like his mother. According to the Duke, Diana inspires him to do them, as she left a void for many people worldwide when she died.

Now, Harry is keeping his mother’s legacy alive and is “stepping into the void” she left with his charity works. He frequently visits with the WellChild Charity that aids sick children, their families, and caregivers. Harry also has an appeal in widening the publicity for banning landmines and those injured by the weapons.
